Our team knows that your new home is about so much more than the raw materials that we use to build it. Your house will become a place where your family grows and memories are made. Custom Home Builders in Bridgeville, Delaware

Carl Deputy & Son Builders offers both fully custom and semi-custom homes for Bridgeville residents. A fully custom home allows you to choose every detail from the ground up, including the floor plan, finishes, and features. A semi-custom home lets you choose from a set of floor plans and customize elements such as fixtures, flooring, and paint type and colors.

The process begins with selecting your lot. We can construct a house on your lot or help you find a lot from our available inventory. If you haven’t yet purchased a plot of land, our team can help you evaluate your options to pick the perfect site for your dream home.

Next, we will collaborate with you to design your house. For semi-custom homes, you will pick a floor plan and finishes. For custom builds, our designers will work with you to create a unique layout and help you pick finishes that match your style. Once your design is finalized, we will provide a detailed estimate and construction contract.

If you need to secure financing, you can use this documentation to obtain a loan. We are happy to recommend trusted lenders if you don’t have one in mind.

When the paperwork is complete, we will review your finalized plans before breaking ground. Construction will then proceed through carefully-scheduled phases. Starting with the foundation, we will move on to framing, plumbing, electrical, and finishing touches.

At each step of construction, we will get all of the required inspections and approvals. We will also invite you to “muddy boots” tours where you can see our progress firsthand. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have, and we will accommodate change requests whenever possible.

When construction is complete, we will do a final walkthrough of the property with you to review your home’s new features and explain how to maintain them. We will also complete any punchlist items for you. The last step is a closing to complete legal paperwork, transfer ownership, and hand you the keys to your brand-new house.

About Bridgeville

Located in Sussex County, Bridgeville is a small town of approximately 2,500 people  It is a residential community located in the southwestern area of the state, close to the Maryland border. It is 30 miles south of Dover, the capital of Delaware.

Bridgeville is the oldest town in western Sussex County. Land transactions from the early 1700s indicate that by the time that settlers started buying property in the region, there was already an agricultural community in the region.

By the early 1800s, a small cluster of houses had been built on what is now Main Street. This settlement was known as “Bridge Branch” due to its proximity to a nearby stream that had a bridge over it as far back as 1730. By 1804, the community got its first post office. In 1810, the Delaware Assembly formally recognized its name as Bridgeville. The town got its name for the bridge over the stream near where the first houses were built.

Bridgeville’s early economy was powered by a charcoal furnace, a fruit-drying business, a water-powered mill, and a tannery. When part of the Delaware Railroad was built through Bridgeville, the town grew even further, reaching a population of 613 by 1900. Today, Bridgeville has numerous buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Old Bridgeville Fire House, Sudler House, the Bridgeville Historic District, and the Bridgeville Public Library.

Residents of Bridgeville largely rely on cars for transportation, as the town is connected to the rest of Delaware and Maryland by U.S. Route 13 and Delaware Route 404. There is a DART First State bus route that connects Bridgeville with Delmar and Georgetown. In addition, the Delmarva Central Railroad has a line that passes through Bridgeville.

Students in Bridgeville attend schools in the Woodbridge School District. Options for schools include the Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center, Phillis Wheatley Elementary School, Woodbridge Middle School, and Woodbridge High School. Bridgeville is also close to several institutions of higher education, including the University of Delaware, Wilmington College, and Delaware Technical and Community College.

Bridgeville is a quiet town, yet there are still many festivals and events throughout the year. This includes community-wide yard sales in the spring and fall, concerts in the park, outdoor movie nights, an annual “Apple Scrapple” festival, a tree lighting ceremony and holiday parade, and a downtown trunk or treat event. The town is known for being an agriculturally-oriented community with beautiful homes and broad, tree-lined streets.

While Bridgeville isn’t necessarily known for fine dining, there are a number of great restaurants in the area. This includes Jack’s on Main, Stella’s Pizza and Italian Grill, Bul Jang BBQ, and Elizabeth Esther Cafe. Many residents opt to make the short drive to Dover for more adventurous options. There are also great parks in the area, including Passwaters Park, Milton Memorial Park, Killens Pond State Park, Tuckahoe State Park, Trap Pond State Park, Holts Landing State Park, and Delaware Seashore State Park.

In terms of shopping, nightlife, and dining, residents enjoy golfing at Heritage Shores Golf Course, checking out vintage goods at Antique Alley of Bridgeville, strolling through the Bridgeville Historical Society Museum, and shopping at T.S. Smith & Sons, Downtown Alley, Evans Farms, or Lindenmere Gift Market. When it comes to eating out or getting a drink, local favorites include Jeff’s Taproom and Grille, Passwater’s Restaurant and 1730 Tavern, Snappy’s Bar and Grill, Tony’s Pizza and Pasta, and Sugar Beet Market.

Bridgeville is also a relatively short drive from many of Delaware’s best beaches. In 30 minutes to an hour, you can get to great beach towns like Rehoboth Beach, Broadkill Beach, Dewey Beach, Cape Henlopen State Park, and Fenwick Island State Park. The town is also a short drive from great shopping in Salisbury, Maryland.
